Thanks for returning. Be sure to look for the latest additions to our blog. Remember, it's categorical, not chronological. Also, you'll find the latest posts in the right sidebar... Recent Posts.
You’ve heard the terms splash page and squeeze page, and probably have wondered what’s the difference, and why does it matter which I use.
Here are the basics.
A splash page is one screen (or less), generally is built on an eye-popping graphic, contains a headline, and tag line (that’s short, catchy copy) to grab your attention. The whole page may be linked, or there may be a specific “click here”, taking you to the actual sales page or blog article.
A squeeze page is a splash page that requires you to give up at least your first name and e-mail address before you get to see the “hidden page”.
When you are building a list, you use a squeeze page.
When you are simply driving traffic, much like we do at Traffic-Exchange-Business.com, then you may use a splash page. But remember… aside from know how many clicked, you’ll not get to build your list or relationships.
Here’s an awesome list of resources for finding stock photography, icons, and other graphics. Be sure to check the license offered.
You’ll generally need some graphics software that allows you to build .PSD files. That’s the process that lets you put text on top of an image.
If you’re building a sqeeze page, you’ll also want to add your form on top of the image.
If graphics feel a bit advanced for you, create a “text only” splash or squeeze page. Use eye-catching font/size/color, short sentences with action words, and your list sign up form.
Another alternative to the standard squeeze page for blogs would be to create a way for viewers to easily grab your RSS Feed. Remember, you still don’t know WHO your readers are, but it solves the hassle of double opt-in e-mail lists.
